The Amargosa Basin is a place of transition and transformation. The landscape is dotted with old gypsum mines and abandoned homesteads which once thrived due to the only free-flowing river in the Mojave Desert. Evidence of this industrial history isn't always obvious, it leaves behind traces, the desert mud hills and flickering mesquite conceal the old West in a mask of golden bronze and green.

The Old Spanish Trail is an exploration of post-industrial land and communities in the Mojave Desert. This area has seen a transition from industrial mining to smaller scale farming and recreation based tourism.
